Installation of hanging solar fence by Forest Department to prevent wild elephant menace in the fringe villages of Saragur Forest Range in the district has been yielding good results and proving successful.
The Forest Department will erect a solar fence to a total length of 12 km along the periphery of select reserve forests in Tiruchi Circle in the current financial year to prevent man-animal conflicts.
After experimenting with various measures like trenches and solar fencing to prevent wild jumbos from entering into villages, the Forest Department has now resorted to erecting a concrete fence in the forest area
